Reisen nach Deutschland (Travelling to Germany) - Lubeck

In my previous post, you would have known about the sights in Hamburg, Germany.
Since I had a few nights at Hamburg, I decided to take a day trip out to Lubeck. The reviews on the internet were pretty positive so I asked the rest if they were ok with it. The guys HAD NO PLANS AT ALL when they visited so they were fine with it.

Both Hamburg and Lubeck are located in a part of Germany called, Schleswig Holstein.
In order to get there, you travel by the regional train which leaves every hour and the ticket per person cost about 11.50 euros. However, on weekends in Germany, they will always have LANDER group tickets. We bought this Lander group ticket for a total of 36 euros covering 4 people. In this case, we save about 2 euros each person.
Something for tourists who are gonna travel to Germany. Its always better to plan day trips on weekends because train tickets are generally cheaper.

Refer to Bahn.de for different types of Lander ticket in Germany.

About 45 minutes later , we reached the main train station at Lubeck!

The best way to get around the city is by foot. The old town is just a short walking distance from the train station.
Accompanied with beautiful views while walking to Altstadt (Old town)

One of the key sights is the Holstentor which previously was known as one of the city gates in the Hanseatic city.

A great company that I missed!

The building was something impressive to look at and take a couple of photos but otherwise, I thought it was nothing that special.

As soon as we passed the Holstentor, we found ourselves in the heart of the old town.

The old town was fully surrounded by historic buildings with interesting architecture. Lubeck was one of the richest cities back then in Germany.

Weather was quite a bummer so no pretty pictures of blue skies.

0.90 euros ice cream, MUST BUY!

Famous beach chairs from Travemunde which I intended to visit but it wasn't summer time so the beach will definitely be like a dead zone plus the water will be too cold to swim.

We did a little bit of shopping and had lunch at old town. There were a few tourist shops and book stores worth a visit! Starting making our way out of old town and walk randomly into little alleys.

Spotted more interesting buildings.

Special windows of an auction house.

The signs of early spring!

Found a house that was covered with wall plants and it was photo-worthy!
Next thing we knew, we were walking along the river/canals and the sun begun to set.
The views were ASTOUNDING!! The river had extremely beautiful water reflections of the buildings.

After grabbing a quick dinner at a doner (kebab) stall, we took the evening train back to our hostel.

While we were on the train ride back, the Singaporeans decided to teach Ilda (Albanian) some hokkien language.

HAHAHAHAHA no matter how many times I watch this short video, it still cracks me up badly.
Of course, she has no idea what it obviously meant.
I feel so lucky to find such good company during my stay in Hamburg.
All in all, my first part of the Germany tour went really well because of them. The next city I was visiting became one of my favourite German cities, Berlin!!
I'll write about it soon when I can! Been working the whole Sunday, now I'm pretty much dead.
Gotta be thankful that I don't have to work on Mondays thou.
